Detailed itinerary of 4 Days Double Gorilla Trekking in Uganda and Rwanda
Day 1: Arrival, Kigali City Tour and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
To start your safari, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative at Kigali International Airport and after a short briefing, you will go for a half-day tour of Kigali City. Visit the main City Market and the Kigali Genocide Memorial Center.
After the tour, you will start a 4 hours journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with border crossing at Cyanika Border and drive through the amazing countryside of Rwanda dominated by green rolling hills and plantations. After clearing with the immigrations at the border, you will cross over to Uganda and head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Upon arrival in the park, check in at your lodge where you will spend the rest of the day at rest, have dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest – Visit the Batwa Pygmies
Enjoy early breakfast and head to the park headquarters for briefing at 7:00 am, the briefing covers all the rules and regulations to follow while in the presence of the gorillas and how to conduct yourself. In groups of 8 people, you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek and have an opportunity to hire porters to help you during the trek, the allocation of a gorilla family to trek is based on your fitness levels.
Enter into the forests of Bwindi in search for the gorillas, the trek takes approximately 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night. Upon locating the gorillas, you are allowed to spend one hour in their presence watching them play, feed and groom each other. You are free to take pictures as long as your flashlight is off. Head back to the starting point, where you will meet your guide and head to the Batwa Village Visit. Here you will be entertained by local dances and drama, visit a local medicine man and several other activities that will enrich you about the culture and traditions of the Batwa. Return to the your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park – Visit the Gorilla Guardians Village
Enjoy breakfast as you wait for your driver, checkout of the lodge and embark on the journey to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda with border crossing at Cyanika Border. After lunch at your lodge in Volcanoes National Park and short rest, head to the Gorilla Guardians Village formerly known as the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, the center started as a place where former poachers would sell souvenir to tourists. The government revamped the site and turned it into one of the best cultural centers in East Africa, during your time you will be entertained by local dances and drama, dress up in the traditional robes and take part in crowning of the King. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park- Departure.
Wake up early for breakfast, head to Volcanoes National Park for briefing at the park headquarters which starts at 7:00 am. A ranger guide will take you through rules and regulations to follow, what to expect. In groups of 8 people, you will lead through the forest by park rangers looking for mountain gorillas, expect to pass through the thick bamboo forest with amazing creatures.
The trek takes approximately 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night. Upon locating the gorillas, you are allowed to spend one hour in their presence, take pictures and watch them go on with their daily life in the forest. You will then head back to the starting point for lunch, your driver will drop you off at your hotel in Kigali or airport for departure.
