To use any these routes, visitors must inform the office on their intention to use any of the routes and exit gates in advance.
Important information for visitors
Park rules
- Adhere to park entry and exit times, unless you are an overnight visitors. Also, always exit the park before dusk. Park gates open at 6:00 am and close at 6:00 pm
- While driving in the park, general rules of the road apply. Car hooting and driving under the influence of alcohol is strictly prohibited
- Move slowly and quietly but remember all animals in the park are wild and can react dangerous if startled and feel threatened.
- Do not feed the animals
- Drive at the speed limit of 40
- Beware of the animals as they are wild and unpredictable do not litre or throw cigarette butts thus Mount Kenya National Park Fees

By Air – domestic flights are offered from Wilson Airstrip to Nanyuki airstrip the closet commercial airstrip to Mt.Kenya national park
By road – Mt.Kenya national park is located in about 175 kilometers from Nairobi, the park can be reached on the Nanyuki – Isiolo road via Sirimon Track or Nyeri – Nanyuki road near Naro Moru. Mt.Kenya national park is accessible via Chogoria on the Embu – Meru road, about 150 kilometers of Nairobi.
