What is Nanyuki famous for?

What is Nanyuki famous for? In this blog I will share some of the best safari tour accommodations in Laikipia, here you will find the top hotels and lodges in Nanyuki. Driving north from Nairobi, you may reach Nanyuki by passing the Delmonte pineapple farms, the cement tower blocks of Thika, and the Sagana river with its several waterfalls. The main town and headquarters of Laikipia County is in Nanyuki. Nanyuki is well known Kenyan safari  destination because of its game parks, conservancies, and ranches. It is located on the western side of Mount Kenya. Although the town may not seem particularly attractive at first, there is a wealth of natural beauty hidden behind the run-down buildings, cows, and brick-a-brack. As a popular tourist safari destination and significant location in colonial history, Nanyuki offers a wide selection of hotels and lodges for your accommodation.

Hotels in Nanyuki vary from luxurious hotels to historic colonial outposts to camping atop mountains. You can book safari accommodations in a five-star hotel at the Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club, an alpine chalet at Castle Forest Lodge, or a safari tent at Ol Pejeta.

Nanyuki town

Nanyuki is known to be  ha a little rocky and it  was originally a part of the Maasai land, which extended from Laikipia to the border with Tanzania. British colonists took control of the greatest and most productive territory around Nanyuki at the beginning of the 19th century, creating a “white highlands community” that relied on farming and safari hunting. Relatives of the first farmers and big game hunters still reside in Nanyuki today, and it’s a popular destination for immigrants weary of Nairobi’s ruthless growth. These days, Nanyuki is a flourishing town, a major tourist destination, and a farming community. Even though the shooting safaris are no longer conducted there, it’s still one of Kenya’s finest safari destinations.

Not only did the early white settlers divide the land, but they also brought with them some of the comforts and luxuries from their western countries to Nanyuki. The Nanyuki Sports Club, the Sportsman’s Arms Hotel, and the Mount Kenya Safari Club were all founded in the 1920s and 1930s, along with the Nanyuki racecourse. The Equator was intended to pass through the bar of the Logan Hook’s Silverback Hotel. You may take a single step into each hemisphere and dink. This market town has a sense of history even if many of these businesses have long since closed.

Accommodations in Nanyuki

Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club

One of Nanyuki’s most luxurious safari  hotels is the Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club which was constructed in the 1950s and is situated within more than 100 acres of beautifully planted grounds. The hotel has an unparalleled view of Mount Kenya at Nanyuki,  the historic hotel has a pool a golf course, tennis, croquet, bowling, horseback riding, and spa services available to guests. Internationally recognised standards are met by the 9-hole golf course, and the Riuki Spa and Wellness Centre offers a full range of spa services, including a sauna, steam room, and pool. 110 rooms and villas with Wi-Fi and room service available around-the-clock make up the Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club Resort. A business and a chapel are located at this hotel.

The Castle Forest Lodge

The Castle Forest Lodge Situated atop Mount Kenya, sits Nanyuki. It has wonderful views of the mountain top and the Laikipia highlands and is high enough in the sky to give it an alpine air. The lodge offers a combination of accommodations; two magnificent chalets feature contemporary bathrooms, large fireplaces in the sitting areas, fire pits, and bedrooms with crisp white linens. It’s a great choice for lodging in Nanyuki because of its rustic design combined with contemporary amenities including restrooms. If you want to save money, you can tent (be advised that it gets chilly at night) or reserve one of the more basic, yet still clean, two-bed cabins.

Castle Forest Lodge is completely outdoors, with a kids’ playground, swimming pool, and on-site tavern that feels a lot like an old English pub. You may stroll through the jungle, home to buffalo, leopards, and elephants, and trek to waterfalls. It’s one of my favourite lodges and hotels in Nanyuki.

Kongoni Camp

Kongoni Camp is a reasonably priced and family-friendly choice in Nanyuki. Simplistic yet strategically placed, about 2 km outside of the town, it sits on a 10-acre parcel amid a cedar forest and offers breathtaking views of Mount Kenya. Constructed using natural materials, the main house and restaurant feature wide timbers and lofty ceilings. There’s also a sizable pool that’s kid-friendly and a charming terrace bar for sundowners. There are 22 rooms, 17 suites, and 5 small rondavels available for guests. Kongoni Camp Nanyuki is a wonderful option for families with children who want a less formal experience; it’s basic but reasonably priced, and it’s in a nice location.

Le Rustique Hotel Nanyuki

In the heart of the town is the Nanyuki hotel and restaurant Le Rustique. It’s a charming small sanctuary that offers refuge from Nanyuki Town’s congested streets. Le Rustique is a hideaway with a Moroccan flair that serves delicious meals, excellent wine, and kid-friendly accommodations. There’s a kids playground in the yard and a private pool apart from the restaurant. The tidy rooms have private balconies, WiFi, and satellite TV. There’s also an on-site wine shop, and the food is superb, making it an ideal place to base yourself. What more could one ask for, really?

Ol Jogi

On a private 58,000-acre ranch and nature refuge, Ol Jogi is an amazing getaway. Prestigious hotels and lodges in Nanyuki include Ol Jogi Ranch. You can rent any one of the seven luxuriously furnished and private cottages for a little over a quarter of a million dollars, or you can rent them all. You gain exclusive access to a 60,000-acre wildlife ranch despite the fact that it is still quite a bit of property. With tennis courts, a gym, a pool with a waterfall, and a spa, this resort offers the ultimate in luxury. Request it and you will receive it; there is no menu.

Sweetwaters Serena Camp

The Ol Pejeta Conservancy is situated directly across from the Serena Sweetwaters hotel. It offers great game viewing without  leaving the resort thanks to this luxurious tented camp in Nanyuki, which is situated across from a picturesque hotel. It is a member of the Kenyan Serena hotel chain. Sweetwaters at Ol Pejeta is committed to providing guests with excellent lodging. The Nanyuki resort will arrange trips for bird watching safaris, camel rides safaris , guided walks, and game drives safaris. There is an outdoor pool, a separate bar and a restaurant that serves buffet-style food. Tent rooms are furnished with genuine beds, functional bathrooms, carpets, furnishings, and lighting. There’s nothing like curling up in a luxurious bed and taking in the sounds of the surrounding bush. A winner when it comes to safari destinations as well.
