Oreteti Mara Lodge is a mid-range accommodation found at the edge of the Ololoolo escarpment in Lolgorien, Kenya. It is close to the southwestern edge of Kenya’s Maasai Mara National Park. The lodge is close to Ololoolo Gate in the forest, making it perfect for safari adventures for tourists.

How to be there

The drive from Nairobi city center to Maasai Mara National Park takes approximately 5-6 hours (250 km), and it takes an hour to fly from Nairobi to the nearby Ol Kiombo airstrip, followed by a 22 km transfer to the camp. The lodge is 25-minute drive from Sekenani gate

About the lodge

Oreteti Mara LODGE consists of a 3-bedroom spacious and comfortable house overlooking the stunning views of the wilderness, reflecting traditional building styles with stones.

The tents are well elevated, decorated, and furnished with en-suite facilities that include clean private flush toilets, bathrooms with hot and cold showers, dressing tables, mosquito nets, air conditioning, deck chairs, work desks, wooden tables, free toiletries, complimentary bottled water, and more.

The tent has a sitting area, private verandas, and a vanity deck that gives you a better view of the wilderness and wildlife roaming around the river and surrounding areas.

The tent is equipped with comfortable, clean beddings containing queen- and king-sized beds that vary in size, with single bed for individuals, double/twin beds for sharing and family rooming options

There are fireplaces at the camp where guests relax and share stories about safaris; it also provides warmth to visitors during cold nights.

Services and facilities at the lodge include

A restaurant in the main canvas structure that serves different meals, both international (vegetarian and non-vegetarian) and Kenyan cuisine, to meet guests’ choices: English breakfast, picnic lunch and  dinners (both indoor and outdoor dinners) served by well-trained, friendly and organized staff. They also serve bush dinners overlooking the stars in the sky.

A well-stocked bar and lounge with a variety of refreshments, including local cocktails and wines, spirits, and beers. you relax  and sip the cocktail  while overlooking  the breathtaking views  over the Mara wilderness  and surrounding area

Services: A free parking space is available, laundry and housekeeping services are available, airport pickups and drop-offs are offered, camping is offered, and a massage parlor is offered to calm your body.

A Wi-Fi hotspot internet is available at the camp, enabling visitors to keep in touch with their families and friends. You are able to surf the web while connected.

A craft shop available at the camp with variety of Maasai souvenir gifts like shoes, clothes,  safari essentials, etc.

Recreational activities include Game drive that will give a chance to see a wide range of animals. Hot air ballooning safaris,  nature walks in the local villages of the Maasai, night walking safaris, and many others

Masai Mara National Park is among the largest and most visited parks in Kenya, known for its incredible density and variety of animals. It is situated 270 km north of Nairobi in Kenya, occupying a total area of 1,510 km². There are over 1 million tribes in Kenya. The Maasai are the initial and local group of semi-nomadic people that settled in Kenya and the northern part of Tanzania.

Maasai Mara National Park is an area of preserved savannah wilderness in southwestern Kenya, along the Tanzanian border. The park contains over a million animals that include lions, cheetahs, elephants, zebras and hippos; 600 species of birds; and 60 species of raptors in different colors.

Wildebeest traverse their plains during their annual migration from Serengeti National Park during July, August and October. The landscape has grassy plains and rolling hills and is crossed by the Mara and Talek rivers.
