Greenwood Safari Camp Talek

Greenwood Safari Camp is a mid-range accommodation found in Talek, close to the Talek Gate and River in the famous Maasai Mara National Park, Kenya. The camp is close to Talek Bush camp just 5 minutes’ walk and Hippo pool Viewpoint. You can reach the camp by either road or air transport, which takes approximately 5-6 hours (250 km) to drive from Nairobi city center to Maasai Mara National Park, or about an hour to fly from Nairobi to the nearby Ol Kiombo airstrip, followed by a few minutes of transfer to the camp.

The camp is convenient and business-friendly to tourists and travelers who want to explore the park with its beautiful view of the Talek River, mara plains, and wildlife drinking water at the river and surrounding areas.

Greenwood safari camp consists of over 8 spacious and comfortable tents raised on a wooden deck overlooking the  Mara Plains and River, reflecting traditional building styles with modern comfort.  There is also a campsite with tents for hire for camp lovers.

Each tent is well elevated, decorated, and furnished with en-suite facilities that include clean private flush toilets, safari-style hot and cold showers, dressing tables, mosquito nets, televisions, air conditioning, deck chairs, tables, free toiletries, free bottled water, and more. Each tent has a sitting area, Private verandas, and a vanity deck that give a better view over Mara Plains wildlife roaming around the river and surrounding areas.

Tents are equipped with comfortable, clean bedding containing queen-sized beds.  There are fireplaces at the camp where guests relax and share stories about safaris; they also provide warmth to visitors during cold nights.  The camp offers tents suitable for families as well as individuals with single beds and double beds or twin beds for sharing. They cost $200 per night and above; during high season, the rate is always high than in low season.

Maasai Mara National Park is one of the largest and most visited parks in Kenya, renowned for its incredible density and variety of animals. Maasai Mara National park is an area of preserved savannah wilderness in southwestern Kenya, along the Tanzanian border. The park contains over a million animals, which include lions, cheetahs, elephants, zebras, and hippos; 600 species of birds; and 60 species of raptors in different colors.

Wildebeest traverse its plains during their annual migration from Serengeti national park during July, August and October. The landscape has grassy plains and rolling hills and is crossed by the Mara and Talek rivers.
