Detailed itinerary of 4 Days Uganda Golden Monkey and Batwa Trail safari
Day 1: Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
After breakfast at your hotel in Kampala you will meet your driver-guide and transfer to Kisoro heading to Mgahinga Gorilla national park, on your way you will have a stopover at the equator landmark for pictures and have en-route lunch. You will enjoy winding roads of thousands of terraced hills and the volcanoes of Virunga, you are to arrive in the park in the evening, check into your lodge and stay overnight.

- 9 hours via Entebbe ( there is an option of 1,5 hrs flight from Entebbe)

Day 2: Golden Monkey Trekking
Mgahinga gorilla national park is one of habitats for the golden monkeys which are only found in the Virunga volcanoes region which is shared between Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic republic of Congo.
You will start the day with early breakfast at your lodge, meet your driver-guide and transfer to the briefing point in the park. In the briefing, a ranger guide will give you information on what to expect and how to behave while in the presence of the golden monkeys, hire a porter and then start your hike up in forests of the park in search for golden monkeys. On your hike you will encounter forest wild elephants and buffaloes, the golden monkeys are found in the bamboo forests of the park and while in their presence you will enjoy listening to their dramatic sounds, watch them play on tree tops picking shoots, eating fruits, vegetations and take amazing pictures.
You are allowed to stay in the presence of golden monkeys for one hour and then descent back to the starting point and your lodge.

Day 3: Batwa Trail
This day you are to meet the Batwa in their villages on a batwa trail experience, the batwa are indigenous tribe that once lived in the forests of Virunga which they depended on for livelihood. When the forests were designated as national park as a way of preserving the mountain gorillas, golden monkeys and the forests, the batwa were forcefully evicted to the areas along the formed parks. On the batwa trail you will meet the Batwa pygmies and get a more insight about their life through demonstrations of hunting and their skills, building of houses using local materials, meet a local herbalists and learn how to collect the herbs, be entertained by local dances and drama and take a taste of the local meals.
You are to spend a full day in the Batwa and in the evening you will head back to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 4: transfer back to Kampala
After the last 3 days of exploring Mgahinga gorilla national park, you will have breakfast then checkout and embark on a journey transferring back to Kampala. On your way you will have en-route lunch and when you arrive in Kampala you will be dropped off either at your hotel or at Entebbe International airport for your flight back home.
