Detailed itinerary of 5 Days Aberdare and Samburu Safari
Day 1: Pick up and Transfer to Aberdares National Park
Welcome to Kenya, after breakfast at your hotel in Nairobi or upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. You will be warmly welcomed by our guide and after embark on a journey to Aberdare National Park, the beautiful area lies in the dazzling Aberdare Mountain Range, known for its diverse ecosystems and dramatic landscapes.
Arrive in the park in time for lunch at your lodge, enjoy your meals while marveling at the exotic wildlife and later go for an afternoon game drive.
Aberdares known as “The Majestic Moorland” is a great introduction to Kenya’s natural beauty as it’s defined by lush forested ravines and wide-open moorlands home to various animals. Some of the animals to lookout for during the game drives include elephants, black rhinos, leopards, spotted hyenas, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, buffaloes, warthogs and bushbucks among others.
Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Thomson’s Falls Lodge

Day 2: Morning and Afternoon Game Drives
Wake up early for breakfast and go to the park for a full day game drive, the morning game drive begins at dawn when the animals are most active. As you drive across the park’s lush terrain, you will see various animals congregating at water sources. Look for animals like lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, rhinos, giant forest hogs and African golden cat.
Return to the lodge for lunch, then relax for a short while. Later, head out on an afternoon game drive to some of the more elusive park residents. There are also more than 250 species of birds in Aberdare including Jackson’s francolin, sparrow hawks, goshawks, eagles, sunbirds and plovers among others. At the end of the day, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay as above.

Day 3: Transfer to Samburu National Reserve
Leave Aberdare and transfer to Samburu National Reserve, the reserve is situated around the Ewaso Nyiro River and it is a four-hour drive from Aberdares. Samburu covers an area of 64 square miles featuring ruggedly beautiful landscapes including acacia woodlands and savannah grasslands.
Arrive in time for lunch at the lodge after check-in, in the afternoon you will go for a game drive searching for wildlife including the reticulated giraffe, Grévy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, Beisa oryx, and the gerenuk (a long-necked antelope).
Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Sentrim Samburu Camp.

Day 4: Morning and Afternoon Game Drives
Wake up early for breakfast and head to the plains of Samburu for a full day of exploring Samburu National Reserve on morning and afternoon game drive, the reserve is also home to traditional safari animals like lions, leopards, cheetahs and buffaloes.
Another fun activity to do on this day is visiting a Samburu Village to meet the locals and learn about their way of life, take part in cattle, goat and camel-herding with the Samburu People who are closely related to the Masai People and also wear traditional dress of handmade blankets and heads.
Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Transfer to Nairobi, Depart
After breakfast, you will be check out of your lodge and embark on a journey back to Nairobi with en-route game drive. Your driver will drop you off at the airport to catch your departure flight back home.
