Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
On arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our guide and transfer to your hotel in Kigali City.
Overnight at The Retreat By Heaven

Day 2: Kigali
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast, then head to Kigali City for a historical step into Rwanda’s tragic past at the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre. This is a sobering experience, but an important part of the country’s culture and memory.
Your private guide will help you try to understand and fathom this devastating history. The buzzing capital – Kigali City is also home to the country’s parliament Building and Geological Museum, which you will be able to visit. Spend the rest of the day exploring and then retire to the peace and quiet of your hotel.

Day 3: Kigali – Akagera National Park
Travel to Akagera National Park today, immerse yourself in its wide-open plains, woodlands, lakes, swamps and grassy low mountains. These are home to one of Africa’s highest hippo densities, as well as 520 bird species, and are the ideal spot for observing some of this wonderful wildlife.

Day 4: Akagera National Park
You have this day to explore the diverse Akagera National Park and experience its many attractions. Choose to explore by boat, vehicle or on foot. You might like to watch the hippo or a variety of birds including Cabanis’s bunting, Papyrus g, Brown-chested lapwing, and Denham’s bustard among others.
There is also a healthy lion population in this national park so keep an eye out for this majestic mammal such as giraffes, elands, cheetahs, leopards, buffaloes and elephants among others.

Day 5: Akagera – Volcanoes National Park
Leave the beautiful Akagera National Park for your morning transfer to Kigali. Stop here for a quick lunch and then you will be driven to Volcanoes National Park. This is the start of your gorilla encounter experience.
Volcanoes National Park is famed for being home to endangered mountain gorillas and offering easily accessible gorilla treks. The park’s misty forests are home to 12 habituated gorilla families, on the gorilla trek you will visit one of the habituated gorilla family for 1 hour.

Day 6: Volcanoes National Park
Today’s experience is unique and nothing can quite compare to meeting a mountain gorilla. These gentle giants are so powerful, yet so strangely human. It feels a little like gazing at your ancestors. Join an experienced guide and go gorilla trekking into the thick, wild forest in search of a habituated family.
Once you have tracked one down, you will be granted a precious hour in their company, to watch them eat, groom and play. You are allowed to take as many photos and videos as you wish, as long as your flashlight is off.

Day 7: Volcanoes National Park
This is your last day at Volcanoes National Park, you will have the option to go and track mountain gorillas for a second time. Alternatively, there are golden monkeys to search out. They playful monkeys are found in the bamboo vegetation and you will see them jumping from one branch to another, pick bamboo shoots which they eat and making fascinating poses worth a snap.
If you have soaked up enough sighting of all the magnificent local wildlife, choose to simply relax at the lodge and absorb the awe-inspiring views.

Day 8: Volcanoes National Park – Nyungwe Forest National Park
Leave Volcanoes National Park behind and bid a fond farewell to the amazing gorillas. Drive across the countryside, experiencing all the different landscapes until you reach Kibuye for a short stop. From here, the journey takes you to Nyungwe Forest for the next exciting experience of your safari trip.

Day 9: Nyungwe Forest
Nyungwe Forest is a primate capital offers more opportunities for wildlife watching, the park is animal haven with 13 different types of primates including chimpanzees and colobus monkeys.
Wander through the mahoganies, giant trees, ferns and delicate orchids, whilst carefully looking for chimpanzees. Expect to see some of the 275 species of birds and other primate species such as black and white colobus monkeys, olive baboons among others. The verdant forest and steep slopes are expertly negotiated with your expert tracker guide, who will also take you on canopy walk adventure. Spend one hour in the presence of the chimpanzees watching them groom each other, play on tree branches and picking fruits.
End your day with a visit to The Gisakura Tea Plantation offering you the finest and freshest cup of tea.

Day 10: Departure
On your last day in Rwanda, you will be driven back to Kigali. topping off at Butare and Nyanza, here you will have a chance to see a few more perspectives of Rwandan life, before arriving at the airport for your evening flight home.
