5 Days Nyungwe Forest National Park Safari : This 5 Days Rwanda safari takes you to Nyungwe Forest National Park – vast tract of virgin forest and one of the largest uncut natural forest reserves remaining in Africa situated in southwestern Rwanda.
Nyungwe Forest National Park is home to habituated chimpanzees and 12 other primate species including a 400 strong troop of habituated Rwenzori black and white colobus. It is also a birders’ paradise with over 300 species including 16 endemics.
Detailed itinerary of 5 Days Safari to Nyungwe National Park in Rwanda
Day 1: Arrival Kigali Airport
On arrival at Kigali International Airport in Rwanda, you will be welcomed and received by our representative who will transfer you to the hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you will do a city tour to introduce you to the history and culture of this country of a thousand hills and visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial Center.

Day 2: Safari to Nyungwe Forest National Park in Rwanda
Early morning, enjoy your breakfast and leave the hotel to western province, on your way visit the Royal Palace Museum and Ethnographic Museum in Southern Province. After lunch you head to Nyungwe Forest National Park.
Arrive in the park in the evening, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Nyungwe Forest Lodge (High end), Emeraude (Mid-range facility) or Gisakura Guest House (Budget facility Meal plan (FB).
Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking in Nyungwe Forest National Park
Wake up early for breakfast and head to Nyungwe Forest for chimpanzee tracking, you will join other trackers at the headquarters for briefing conducted by a ranger guide. Head into the forest in search for chimpanzees in the jungle, when you locate the chimpanzees you are allowed to spend one hour in the presence of the chimpanzees watching them go on with their life in the forest, groom each and take pictures.
Return to the lodge for lunch then go for the canopy walk at Uwinka, you will enjoy aerial views of the Nyungwe Forest canopy and sights of black and white colobus monkeys, olive baboons and many bird species. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Colobus Monkey Tracking and Tea Plantation Visit
After breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for briefing about tracking colobus monkeys. You will be grouped in respective groups and in guidance of a ranger guide, head into the forest of Nyungwe looking for colobus monkeys. After spending time with these beautiful primates and taking several pictures, you will head back to the park quarters, meet your guide and head back to your lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, you will visit the tea plantation where you will learn tea is harvested and witness all the process taken into a finished product and also get to taste some. Later head to Kibuye along the Kivu Lake, along the way you will have fantastic views of the country of a thousand hills. Day 5: Kibuye – Kigali and Departure
After breakfast, go for a boat ride and visit different islands in the Lake Kivu. After the thrilling experience, you will go for a visit to the environmental museum in Kibuye then head to Kigali for your departure flight marking the end of your safari.
