Detailed itinerary of 7 Days Rwanda Golden Monkey, Big 5 & Big Cats Safari
Day 1: Kigali City Tour
To start your safari, you will be picked up from your hotel by your driver from the hotel after breakfast and start Kigali city tour visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial center, Kimironko Market where you will do shopping for fruits, visit the Umusabi village, the Kandt House and the Nyimirambo Women Center. In the evening you will head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park – Boat trip on Lake Ihema
After breakfast, you will meet your guide and transfer from Kigali to Akagera National Park, along the way you will enjoy amazing of a thousand hills and when you arrive in the park we shall proceed to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon you will go for a boat trip on Lake Ihema enjoying sights of hippos and crocodiles in the waters by the shores. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Full Day Game Drives in Akagera National Park
Enjoy early morning breakfast and head for the full day game drives in an open roofed vehicle, the full day game drives offers you an opportunity to spot a variety of game inhabiting in Akagera national park including elephants, buffalos, hippos, lions, Masai giraffe, gazelles, impala, baboons, oribi, Butchel’s zebra, topi, bush baby, leopard, and bushbuck among others. You will have lunch either picnic lunch set at one of the picnic sites of the park or at your lodge. After lunch you will proceed for an evening game drive, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Akagera National Park – Lake Kivu
After breakfast, you will exit the park and embark on a drive to Lake Kivu, upon arrival you will have lunch and rest. In the afternoon you will have a relaxing boat ride on Lake Kivu – one of the most beautiful lakes in Africa with a splendid view colored by its thousand green islands. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Local Fishing activities in Lake Kivu – Volcanoes National Park
Enjoy morning breakfast and head to Lake Kivu for a local fishing experience, you will sit in a boat and follow the local fishermen who will show you how they use traditional techniques of trapping fish. The small fish called Sambaza make a daily sauce for Karongi Citizens, these fish are very tasty and healthy and they are worth trying. After lunch, you embark on a journey to Musanze through the Congo Nile Crest. Upon arrival you will check into your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Golden Monkey Trekking – Visit the Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo
Have early breakfast and head to the park headquarters for briefing about golden monkey trekking, rangers will take you through the rules and regulations to follow during this experience and while in their presence. Golden monkey trekking is an easy trek taking 1-2 hours, when you encounter the golden monkeys you will enjoy one hour of being in the presence of these playful creatures, watching them play on bamboo trees among others.
After the experience, you will return to the lodge for lunch and later go for a visit to the Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo and their swamps of Rugezi, at this site you will enjoy excellent photogenic, serene and scenic places for bird watching. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Village visit and transfer back to Kigali
Enjoy morning breakfast and head to the local community in the Rocks Cultural Village where you will experience the authentic Rwandan Cultural through local factories, cuisine, dancing and weaving. While in the village you will be entertained by Rwandese villages “The Intore” known for their remarkable technique allowing them to jump over 2m40. The warriors dance is a jewel of the choreographic heritage of Rwanda, they are dressed with a man made of sisal fibre, tied up on ankles, little balls jingle on each step, giving the warriors dance a thrilling rhythm. Through the Itore balle, physical confrontation turns into artistic rivalry and then at the end comes out into vigorous hug of the warriors which is the most artistic gesture of friendship mutual aid and protection.
You will also be taken through the traditional and authentic wedding and practices, catch the long time lifestyle of the Rwandan people.
After the experience and lunch at your lodge, you will checkout and transfer back to Kigali, you will be dropped off either at your hotel or at the airport for your departure flight back home.
