Detailed itinerary of the safari
Day 1: arrival and Nairobi city tour
Upon you arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport you will be meet by your safari guide a representative from Focus East Africa Tours, he will give you a short safari briefing then head to Nairobi city and check into your hotel. Depending on the time of your arrival you will have a Nairobi city tour visiting sites like Nairobi museum, David Sheldrick wildlife Trust where you will interact with the elephants and Kazuri bead factory for demonstration of making the beads and other artifacts by a group of local women from local clay. In the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight at Hotel Heron Portico.
Day 2: transfer to Masai Mara national reserve
After morning breakfast at your hotel in Nairobi, you will meet your safari driver, checkout and embark on a journey heading to Masai Mara national reserve, Masai Mara national reserve is the most popular destination for wildlife viewing tours in Kenya hosting a variety of wildlife species including the big five. When you arrive in the park you will check into your lodge and rest for a while as you wait for your lunch, after lunch you will go for an afternoon game drive in the endless plains of Masai Mara national reserve. While driving through the reserve you will have an opportunity of watching many animal species such as lions, leopards, Masai giraffe, wildebeests, elephants, antelopes, zebras, hartebeests, gazelles and many more. After the game drive you will head back to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight at AA MARA LODGE.
Day 3: Full day in Masai Mara national reserve
After morning breakfast you will leave your lodge and head to Masai Mara national reserve for a full day of exploring the park with your packed lunch, on the full game drive you will do both a morning and afternoon game drive giving you optimum time to explore the reserve. While on the game drive you will watch many animals such as buffaloes, rhinos, cheetahs, lions, leopards, Masai giraffe, wildebeests, elephants, antelopes, zebras, hartebeests, gazelles and many more while grazing in the short savannah grasslands of the reserve. At lunch you will have picnic lunch set at one of the picnic sites along the banks of Mara river and in the afternoon you will go for another game drive, at the end of the full day game drive you will head back to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight at AA MARA LODGE.
Day 4: Visiting the local Masai community
After morning breakfast at your lodge you will checkout and head to the masai local community for a full day of cultural safari with your packed lunch, Masai local people are one of the few remaining tribes in Kenya possessing unique and beautiful cultural, traditions and norms which have not been yet destroyed by modernity and traditions. The Masai community is adjacent to the boundaries of Masai Mara national reserve, these people depend on rearing live stock and live in the bomas (locally built houses in circular form). While in the Masai community on a Kenya cultural tour you will enjoy observing and watching their local dressing code of bright shukas adorned with beautiful jewelry pieces, be entertained by local dances and drama, milking and rearing of the livestock, visiting local schools, market and many more. In the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight at AA MARA LODGE.
Day 5: Transfer to Lake Nakuru national park
After morning at your lodge, you will check out and say goodbye to Masai Mara national reserve with an en-route game drive as you head to Lake Nakuru national park, Lake Nakuru national park is a top Kenya birding destination hosting thousands of flamingoes on the shores of Lake Nakuru. When you arrive in the park, you will have lunch after checking into your lodge then in the afternoon you will go for a game drive. A game drive in Lake Nakuru national park offers a chance to visit Lake Nakuru where you will spot many birds such as thousands of flamingoes, pelicans and many more. As you drive through the grassland of the park you will spot animals like lions, black and white rhinos, zebras, warthogs, Cape buffalo, African wild dog, waterbucks, Rothschild giraffe and many more. In the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight at Ziwa Bush lodge.
Day 6: Morning game drive and visiting the local community
After breakfast at your lodge, you will head to the park for a morning game drive for sights of numerous animals living in the park, various species of wildlife will be spotted as they graze in the park such as lions, black and white rhinos, zebras, warthogs, Cape buffalo, African wild dog, waterbucks, Rothschild giraffe among others . After the game drive you will head back to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon you will go for a visit to the local community, on your visit you will encounter the locals whom you will interact with, visit schools, market centres and many more. In the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight at Ziwa Bush Lodge.
Day 7: Transfer back to Nairobi
After morning breakfast you will check out of your lodge and say goodbye to Lake Nakuru national park as you embark on a drive back to Nairobi, when you arrive in Nairobi you will be dropped at the airport for your departure flight back home.
