Detailed Itinerary of the Kenya Safari

Day 1: Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be picked up by our representative (your safari-driver guide), he will give you a briefing about the Kenya safari and then depart for Lake Nakuru National Park arriving in time for lunch at your lodge after checking in.

In the afternoon you will go for a game drive and during this experience, expect to see abundant wildlife including impalas, gazelles, waterbucks, dik diks among others. Also, visit Lake Nakuru for amazing views of flamingoes and other water birds. Later return to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Ziwa Bush Lodge

Day 2: Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara National Park

Enjoy a delicious breakfast, then depart for Masai Mara National Reserve with a drive through the Great Rift Valley floor and western escarpments formed centuries due to the natural shifting of the earth’s tectonic plates.

Arrive in the reserve in time for lunch and in the afternoon you will go for a game viewing experience in the endless plains of Masai Mara, spot a variety of wildlife including lions, leopards, cheetahs, wildebeests, elands, gazelles among others. In the evening, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Mara Sentrim Camp.

Day 3&4: Masai Mara – Game drives

On these two days you will explore Masai Mara National Reserve on full day game drives. Expect to catch sightings of several wildlife species including lions, elephants, cape buffaloes, leopards, rhinos, gazelles, cheetahs, African wild dogs and numerous bird species.

Masai Mara National Park is home to one of the world’s most spectacular drama that is the Great Wildebeest Migration, an annual migration of over two million wildebeests and hundreds of zebras and gazelles as they migrate northward from the Serengeti to Masai Mara National Reserve. During this journey, these animals encounter dangers from predators, crossing the Mara River which is infested with Nile Crocodiles.

In the afternoon you can do an optional visit to the Masai Village where you will engage with the community members and learn local dances and culture of the Maasai Community. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Masai Mara – Nairobi

Enjoy breakfast, and embark on a journey back to Nairobi. When you rich the city, you will be dropped off either at the hotel for dinner and overnight stay at Best Western Hotel.

Wake up early for a cup of coffee, check out of your lodge, exit the reserve and either head to the Masai Village for a cultural visit (optional Activity) or embark on a journey back to Nairobi. When you reach in the city, you will be dropped off either at the hotel for dinner and overnight stay at Best Western Hotel

Day 6:  From Nairobi to Drive to Chogoria Town – Hike to Mount Kenya Bandas

Your driver-guide will pick you up after breakfast at your hotel and drive north with en-route lunch to Chogoria.

Mount Kenya Climbing Chogoria Route. This route is by far the most spectacular and beautiful route on Mount Kenya. Out of the tree popular routes for climbing Mount Kenya, the Chogoria Route is without question the most scenic and rewarding for hikers interested in sightseeing as well as summiting in addition. Also, we get the opportunity to soak up the sights and sounds of the forest and to get “in time” with our surroundings. We will probably walk around before we arrive at the Mount Kenya Bandas where we spend the night.

This is a good spot to see wildlife in the evening including monkeys, buffaloes, and even elephants.

Day 7:  Mount Kenya Bandas to Hike up 2 to 3 Hours to Drive to Chogoria Town – Nairobi

After breakfast, hike 7 kilometers further up to the road head at 3300 meters. Since it only takes 2 hours to get here, that leaves you with plenty of time to explore the surroundings. One of the attractions here is the Nithi waterfalls, approximately 100 feet high, accessible by crossing the river and following the trail to the left for about 300 meters. Other attractions are Lake Ellis at 3500 meters and about 3 kilometers to the right of the road head, and Mugi Hill next to the lake.

If you climb to the top of Mugi Hill, you will get a bird’s eye view of the neighboring flat-topped Giant’s Billiard table. From this point, you will retrace your steps. We will walk back along the vehicle track to the Bandas and exit the park.

We will then load up our vehicle for the drive back down through the forest to Chogoria and on to Nairobi.
