Detailed itinerary of 9 Days Tanzania Safari
Day 1: Transfer to Tarangire National Park
On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by Engabi safaris representative, your safari driver guide for the whole safari. He will give you a short briefing about the safari then embark on a journey to the beautiful Tarangire National Park famous for its enormous baobab trees, large herds of elephants and beautiful bird life and more.
You will enjoy lunch at the picnic site overlooking Tarangire River and enjoy sights of Baboons coming around.
From the comfort of your vehicle through the pop-up roof, you will see a number of animals including elephants, lions, hippos, leopards, African buffaloes, hyenas, zebras among others. In the evening, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Hike Mt. Ol Doinyo Lengai
After a delicious breakfast, drive to Lake Natron – a soda lake blooming with algae that turns the lake red, in the evening you will go for a trek up Ol Doinyo Lengai – an active volcano. Hike at night as it is so hot in the day, the hike is quite challenging and daring. The whole hike takes approximately 10 hours to complete but very rewarding.
For visitors who aren’t keen on the volcano climbing, can instead do the Great Rift hike which is also amazing.

Day 3: Ngare Sero Waterfall hike
Arrive back from the volcano hike in the morning and head to the camp to have breakfast and rest, in the afternoon you will go for a safari walk by the lake shore led by a local Maasai guide. You will also do a guided 5 kilometers roundtrip hike up a narrow gorge to Ngare Sero waterfall – a beautiful oasis, the waterfall creates a pool which you can swim in.

Day 4: Guided safari walk by the lake
After a delicious breakfast, you will enjoy a guided safari walk at the Southern end of Lake Natron – a beautiful Salt Lake famous for large number of flamingoes and pink, the lake could be red in color from an algae bloom.
After the amazing experience and with packed lunch, you will drive to northern Serengeti arriving in late afternoon. With game drive exploring the Serengeti plains and spotting a number of animals such as lions, leopards and gazelles among others you will head to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Great Migration game drive
Spend a full day in Serengeti plains following the great migration, depending on the time of the year, you will either head to northern or central Serengeti to see the numerous herds of the Great Migration – the largest land-based migration in the world.
If you head north, you will visit the famous Mara river crossing where the wildebeests and zebras plunge into the Mara River filled with the fierce Nile crocodiles and predators along the banks. This is one of the deadly encounter in the great migration and it is very fascinating to watch, in the evening you will head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Serengeti game drive
Enjoy another day of game drives (game viewing) in Serengeti national park, the best game park. Serengeti National Park is home to the Big Five (lion, elephants, buffalo, rhino and leopard) and huge population of other wildlife species. As you explore the endless plains of Serengeti, you will enjoy spotting many animals such as cheetahs, hyenas, hippos, serval cats, impalas, kudus, giraffes among others as they freely graze.
You enjoy either picnic lunch or lunch at your lodge, continue exploring the Serengeti plains till sunset, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Highlands
After enjoying breakfast, you will go for a half – day game drive in the southern plains of Serengeti. Calving season happens in the Southern Serengeti in January to March and you will be able to see baby calves freshly being born. There are lots of predator action you will observe, with packed lunch you will drive to the beautiful Ngorongoro crater. With en-route game drive you will head to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Olmoti Crater Hike
After breakfast, you will go for a great nature retreat, hike to the floor of Olmoti Crater. The name Olmoti is a Maasai world meaning Cooking pot and is a reference to a sunken caldera. The rim of the crater is reached on a 30-minute footpath from the ranger post at Nainokanoka, during the hike you will also see some wildlife up close, the Maasai people and their cattle in the area. The crater floor is bisected by a valley river and can hike to see the beautiful Munge Waterfall. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: Ngorongoro Crater Safari and departure
Enjoy breakfast and descend to the crater floor for a game drive, as you descend to the crater you will enjoy spectacular views of the crater rim. While on the crater floor, expect to see black rhinos, hyenas, lions, leopards, cape buffaloes and many birds. With packed lunch, you will depart for Arusha where you will be dropped off at the airport for your international flight back home.
