Detailed itinerary of 13 Days Uganda Primates Safari

Day 1 – Arrival at Entebbe Airport – Uganda

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our company representative and depending on your arrival time, you will check in at your hotel and acclimatize. In case you arrive early, you will have a brief City Tour or just relax at your hotel recovering from Jet lag.

Day 2 – Transfer To Murchison Falls National Park

Have early departure from Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park which is about 5 to 6 hours with lunch en-route. We will arrive in the national park in the late afternoon and head to the magnificent Murchison Falls for a visit on top of the falls, here you will see the River Nile forcing its way into a seven-meter gorge and forms a rainbow. Continue to your lodge for overnight.

Day 3 – Murchison Falls National Park

Wake up early for a cup of coffee and head on for a game drive on the northern bank of the Nile, with chances of seeing lots of wildlife in search for food, some of the animals to lookout for include giraffes, elephants, lions, hartebeests and various bird species.

You will return to your lodge for a full breakfast, then relax till lunch. In the afternoon you will go on a boat cruise to the bottom of Murchison Falls on the river Nile for close sightings of hippos, crocodiles in the waters, elephants and buffaloes among the banks of the river drinking water. The boat cruise takes you to the bottom of the falls where you will get a spectacular views of the falls.

Day 4 – Murchison Falls National Park – Fort portal

Depart Murchison Falls and head towards Fort Portal which is about 8 hours, the journey is long but you will be rewarded with stunning views as you pass small villages and local markets with an en-route stop for lunch. Arrive early in the evening, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5 – Kibale Forest National Park

Wake up early for breakfast, meet your guide and head to park headquarters for briefing about chimpanzee trekking conducted by a senior ranger guide. He will take you through rules and regulation to follow during the trek, then enter into the forests looking for the chimpanzees. The trek through the forests takes approximately 2-4 hours depending on the movement of these playful chimpanzees and where they spent their previous night. When you locate the chimpanzees, you are allowed to spend only one hour in their presence takes photos and observe their playful nature.

Return to your lodge for lunch and later in the afternoon, you will go for a guided nature walk in Bigodi swamp – known for its rich diversity of birds, butterflies and rare plant species.

Day 6 – Transfer To Queen Elizabeth National Park

After a leisurely breakfast, checkout and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park with a stopover at the crater lakes, continue to the park. Upon arrival you will check in at your lodge for lunch and later in the afternoon go for a game drive.

Day 7 – Queen Elizabeth National Park

Wake up early for a full breakfast and head to the park for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi Plains, a mating ground of the Uganda Kobs where you may be lucky to spot some lions and leopards hunting. Be on a lookout for elephants and other wild animals in the natural habitat. Return to the lodge for lunch, in the afternoon you will go for a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel, host of the highest concentration of hippos in East Africa. As you calm cruise, you will see large numbers of hippos, crocodiles and several bird species.

Day 8 – Transfer To Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After morning breakfast, checkout of your lodge and head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with a game drive in the Ishasha Sector where you will get a chance to see the rare tree climbing lions. Continue to Bwindi Forest with en-route lunch, arrive in the park in the evening, and check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9 – Gorilla Tracking In Bwindi

Have early breakfast, meet your guide with your packed lunch and head for the briefing about your gorilla trekking. This is the highlight of your 13 Days Uganda Primate Safari. After the briefing you will head into the misty Bwindi Forest looking for mountain gorillas, the trek takes approximately 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night. You will spend one hour in the presence of the gorillas, watch them play, feed and groom each other. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10 – Bwindi Impenetrable – Lake Mburo National Park

Start off early for breakfast and head to Lake Mburo National Park arriving in time for lunch at your lodge. In the afternoon we go for a boat ride on the lake, this is an exhilarating experience with the chances of spotting various water species and wildlife cooling off on the shores of the lake.

Day 11 – Full Day in Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast, you will head to the park for a full day game drive. Lake Mburo National Park is home to various species of wildlife including zebras, giraffes, impalas, African buffaloes, lions among others which you will spot from the comfort of your safari vehicle.

Day 12 – Guided Natural Walk and Transfer back to Kampala

Have early breakfast and go for a guided natural walk in the park, on the walk you will see several wildlife and bird species up-close. Return to your lodge for lunch and checkout your lodge and embark on a journey to Kampala with a stopover at the Ugandan Equator, take the water experiments and also do some souvenir shopping.

Day 13 – Departure

Depending on your flight schedule, you will have a Kampala City Tour visiting the Kasubi Tombs, The National Museum among other attractions. Your guide will drop you off at the airport for your flight back home bringing your safari to an end.
