Mara Big Five Camp is a mid-range accommodation found right at the shores of the Talek River, 500m from the Talek Gate within Kenya’s famous Masai Mara National Park Kenya Region. The camp is situated on the riverwalk and in the bush areas just 2 km from the center (talek village).
The camp is convenient and business-friendly to travelers/tourists who want to explore the park with beautiful views of the Talek River, Mara Plains, and wildlife roaming along the river and surrounding areas.
How to get there.
You can reach the camp by road or air transport. The drive from Nairobi city center to Maasai Mara National Park takes approximately 5-6 hours (250 km), while a flight to the nearby Serena airstrip takes about an hour, followed by a 30-minute transfer to the camp.
About the camp
Mara Big Five camp consists of 8 spacious and comfortable rooms raised on a wooden deck overlooking the Talek River, reflecting traditional building styles with comfort.
Each room is well elevated, decorated, and furnished with en-suite facilities that include clean private flush toilets, safari-style hot and cold showers, dressing tables, mosquito nets, televisions, deck chairs, work desks, tables, free bottled water, and many other amenities.
Each tent has a sitting area, private verandas, and a vanity deck that provide a better view of the Talek River and the wildlife roaming around the camp, which is not fenced and is surrounded by open areas.
Tents are equipped with comfortable, clean bedding, including queen-sized beds suitable for families, as well as single beds, double/twin beds for sharing, and triple beds.
There are fireplaces at the camp where guests relax as they share stories/experiences about the safaris; it also provides warmth to visitors during cold nights.

A restaurant in a main canvas structure serves a variety of meals, including both international (vegetarian and non-vegetarian) and Kenyan cuisine, to meet guests’ choices. You can enjoy meals in any place of your choice, whether in the sitting areas, the bush, or the dining area.
The well-trained, friendly, and organized staff serve a variety of meals, including English breakfast, picnic lunch, and dinners (both indoor and outdoor). They also serve bush dinners while overlooking the stars and bush breakfast as you enjoy the sunrise on the riverine.

About the park
Masaai Mara National Park is among the largest and most visited parks in Kenya, known for its incredible density and variety of animals. It is situated 270 km north of Nairobi, Kenya, and occupies a total area of 1,510 km2.
There are many over 1 million tribes in Kenya, Masaai are initial and local group of semi –Nomadic people that settled in Kenya and the northern part of Tanzania. Maasai Mara National park is an area of preserved savannah wilderness in southwestern Kenya, along the Tanzanian border.
The park contains over a million animals, including lions, cheetahs, elephants, zebras, and hippos; 600 species of birds; and 60 species of raptors in different colors. Wildebeests traverse their plains during their annual migration from Serengeti National Park in July, August, and October. Grassy plains and rolling hills characterize the landscape, intersected by the Mara and Talek rivers.
