Detailed itinerary of 7 days Uganda – Rwanda safari
Day 1: transfer from Kigali to Kibale forest national park
On the 1st day if 7 days Uganda – Rwanda safari you will be picked from your lodge after morning breakfast, meet your safari and embark on a journey of 5-6 hours to Kibale national park, on your way you will have en-route lunch and when you arrive in the park you will check into your lodge. In the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight at your lodge.

Day 2: chimpanzee tracking and transfer to queen Elizabeth National Park
On the 2nd day of the safari you will have early morning breakfast and head to the park for chimpanzee tracking, at the park you will be taken through rules and regulations to follow on this experience then head into the forests looking for chimpanzees in guidance of ranger guide. Chimpanzees live in the thick forests of Kibale and to find then takes about 2-3 hours depending on their movements, chimpanzees can be heard from their hooting voices and you are to spend only 1 hour in their presence while taking beautiful pictures and observing their playful nature. After experience you will head back to your lodge for lunch, the checkout and embark on a journey of 2 hours to Queen Elizabeth national park a famous tourist destination in Uganda. When you arrive in the park, you will check into your lodge then either rest or take a walk around the lodge. In the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight at your lodge.

Day 3: morning game drive and boat cruise on Kazinga channel
On the 3rd day of 7 days Uganda-Rwanda safari you will have morning breakfast at your lodge and then head to the park for a morning game drive, on the drive in Kasenyi plains or Mweya area you will enjoy watching many animals such as leopards, hippos, hartebeests, lions, Uganda kob, antelopes and many birds. Then you will head back to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon you will head to Kazinga channel for a boat cruise, Kazinga channel connects Lake George and Lake Edward and on the boat cruise you will spot many hippos and crocodiles in the waters, elephants, buffaloes and many bird such as herons, egrets, shoebills and many more. In the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight at your lodge.
Day 4: game drive in ishasha and transfer to volcanoes national park
On the 4th day of 7 days Uganda – Rwanda safari you will morning breakfast at your lodge, checkout and head to Volcanoes National Park with an enroute game drive in Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth national park. On your game drive you will enjoy sights of tree climbing lions, tree climbing lions are seen resting on top of fig trees and many other animals such as antelopes, buffaloes, Uganda kob and many more. Day 5: mountain gorilla trekking
On the 5th day of 7 days Uganda – Rwanda safari you will have early morning breakfast, then head to the park’s headquarters for briefing about mountain gorilla trekking with your packed lunch, a senior ranger will take you through the rules and regulation to follow which in the presence of mountain gorillas, be assigned a gorilla group to trek and then head into the forests trying to locate mountain gorillas. Locating mountain gorillas takes about 3-5 hours depending on the movement of mountain gorillas and where they spent their last night and your guide knows better to where to find them. When you find the gorillas you will spend one hour in the presence of mountain gorillas watching the gorillas taking care of their young ones and taking pictures as long as your flash light is off. After one hour you will head back to the park’s headquarters then head to your lodge for an afternoon of rest or head to Iby’Iwacu village tour. Iby’Iwacu village also known as the Guardian’s village and on your visit you will enjoy cultural performances, dance and drama, buy souvenirs and interact with the elders. In the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 6: golden monkey tracking and visit the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo
On the 6th day of 7 days Uganda – Rwanda safari you will have early morning breakfast at your lodge then head to the park’s headquarters for briefing about golden monkey tracking, in the tracking rules and regulations will be read to you by a head guide then head into the forests in search for golden monkeys. You will find golden monkeys in bamboo forests as they play on bamboo trees, take beautiful pictures and after 1 hour you will back to your lodge for lunch, in the afternoon you will head for a visit to Lake Burera and Ruhondo for a boat ride and magnificent views. In the evening you will head back to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 7: transfer back to Kigali
On the 7th day of 7 days Uganda – Rwanda safari you will have early morning breakfast at your lodge then checkout and head on a journey of 3 hours to Kigali and on your way you will enjoy amazing views of rolling hills. When you arrive in Kigali, you will have a short city tour depending on the time of your flight back home, on the city tour you will visit sites like the presidential palace museum, Gisozi genocide memorial site, kimironko market and many more. After the tour you will have lunch and head to the airport for your departure flight back home.
