5 Days Uganda Primate Safari takes you on a primate adventure in Uganda with impressive encounters with mountain gorillas, chimpanzees and golden monkeys in their natural habitat.

On this tour takes you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for gorilla trekking adventure, Kibale Forest National Park for chimpanzee trekking and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park for golden monkey. You will also enjoy a Batwa cultural experience and guided walk in Bigodi Swamp.

Detailed Itinerary of 5 Days Uganda Primate Safari

Day 1: Pick up and Transfer to Kibale Forest & Bigodi Forest Walk

To start your Uganda Primate Safari, you will be picked up from your hotel in Entebbe after breakfast at exactly or Entebbe International Airport upon arrival. Your driver – guide will brief you about the safari and embark on a journey to Kibale Forest National Park with en-route stop at the Equator Crossing in Kayabwe for pictures and an opportunity to stand in both North and Southern Hemisphere.

Continue to the Kibale Forest National Park arriving in time for lunch. In the afternoon you will go for a guided walk in Bigodi Swamp, here you will have a chance to see several forest creatures including black and white colobus monkeys, baboons and several bird species. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Transfer to Bwindi Forest

Wake up as early as 6:00 am for breakfast and proceed to Kibale Forest National Park for chimpanzee trekking. Join other visitors at the park headquarters for briefing about chimpanzees, Kibale Forest and how to conduct yourself while in the forest and presence of the chimpanzees.

The trek through Kibale Forest in search for chimpanzees takes approximately 2 to 5 hours or more depending on the movement of the chimpanzees and where they spent their last time. Upon locating the chimpanzee troop, spend one hour with these playful intelligent primates, watching them play, feed and groom each other.

After chimpanzee tracking return to the lodge for lunch, then embark on a journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Arrive in the evening, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking Experience & Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Wake up for breakfast and then proceed to the park headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking, together with fellow visitors a senior ranger guide from Uganda Wildlife Authority will brief you about the right way to behave while in the presence of the majestic mountain gorillas.

In groups of 8 people you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek, head into the forest looking for mountain gorillas on a trek of approximately 2 to 6 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorilla s and where they spent their previous night. Spend one hour watching the giant primates play, feed, groom all happening in the presence of a watchful dominant silverback.

After the tracking, return to your lodge to freshen up, and embark on a journey to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, arrive in the evening, and check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Golden Monkey Trekking & Batwa Culture Experience

Wake up early for breakfast, head to the park headquarters for briefing golden monkey trekking. A ranger guide from Uganda Wildlife Authority will take you through rules and regulations to follow while in the forest and present of golden monkeys.

Trek into the forest searching for golden monkeys which reside in the bamboo forests on the Virunga Volcanoes. Golden monkey trekking experience takes approximately 2 to 4 hours, when you find the golden monkeys you will spend one hour in their presence, watch them play, feed and groom each other. Unlike mountain gorillas, golden monkeys are not sensitive to flashlights, so take as many photos as you wish. Return to the park headquarters, meet your driver guide and return to your lodge for lunch and short rest.

Golden Monkey

In the afternoon you will go for a Batwa Culture Experience, visiting the local Batwa People – the forest pygmy people. Here you will be entertained by local dances and drama, interact with the village elders, visit the medicine man among other activities giving you a deeper insight into the life of the Batwa people. Later, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Departure

Today marks the end of your 5 Days Uganda Primate Safari, after breakfast you will check out of your lodge and embark on a journey back to Kampala with lunch in Mbarara. You will be dropped off at Entebbe International Airport for your flight back home or to your next destination.
