Detailed Itinerary of 6 Days Bwindi & Murchison Falls Uganda Safari

Day 1: Pick up and Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our guide and after a short briefing about the safari and what to expect. Then embark on a journey to Murchison Falls National Park, the second most popular wildlife park in Uganda, home to four of the Big Five and Murchison Falls, the most powerful falls in the world.

En-route, you will stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a 2 hours rhino tracking excursion. After lunch, you will continue to Murchison Falls National Park and upon arrival, you will head to the top of the falls where you will enjoy magnificent views of the falls. Then continue to your lodge for check-in, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon boat cruise

Wake up early for breakfast before embarking on a game drive in search for wildlife, lookout for herds of elephants, buffaloes, lions, spotted hyenas, Uganda kobs and various bird species. Return to your lodge for lunch, and in the afternoon go for a thrilling boat cruise on the Nile, offering you beautiful views of water animals such as the Nile crocodiles, hippos, and large herds of elephants and buffalos along the banks as well as several water birds.  Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale National Park

After breakfast, journey to Southwestern Uganda, driving through the western rift valley with views of the escarpment and Lake Albert. Enjoy lunch in Hoima before proceeding to Kibale National Park.

In the afternoon you may opt to relax at the lodge or go for a Bigodi Swamp Walk and community experience, witnessing several local activities such as liquor making and basket weaving. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking and Transfer to Bwindi Forest

Wake up early for breakfast, meet your guide and head to park headquarters for briefing about chimpanzee trekking, a ranger guide will take you through rules and regulations to follow while in the presence of chimpanzees.

Then trek into the forest looking for chimpanzees, the trek takes approximately 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement of chimpanzees and where they spent their presence night. On the trek, you will other primates such as olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys and several bird species.

Once you locate the chimpanzees, you will be allowed to send only one hour in their presence watching them play, feed and groom. Then trek back to the park headquarters, meet your guide and embark on a journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with en-route lunch. Arrive in the evening, check in at your lodge, and enjoy dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest

Enjoy early breakfast and with your packed lunch, drive to the park headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking and right way to behave while in their presence of the gorillas. In groups of 8 people and with an armed ranger, you will head into the forest of Bwindi searching for these gentle giants.

Depending on the gorilla family assigned to you and where they spent their previous night, you will trek will take approximately 2 to 6 hours and as you trek through the forest, you will see other forest inhabitants such as forest elephants, chimpanzees and other colourful bird species. You will be allowed to spend only one hour in the presence  of the gorillas, watch them play, feed, groom each other and baby gorillas play. You are free to take pictures as long as your flashlight is off.

Later trek back to the park headquarters, meet your guide and return to your lodge for an evening of relaxation, have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Departure

After breakfast, you will bid farewell to the impenetrable forest of Bwindi and embark on a journey to Kampala with en-route lunch and a stop at the equator for more pictures. You will be dropped off either at the hotel or at Entebbe International Airport to catch a flight back home or to your next destination.
