Detailed itinerary of 10 Days Best of Rwanda Safari
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
On arrival in Kigali City, the capital of Rwanda at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your guide (our representative) and transfer you to the hotel for overnight. If you arrive in the morning or early afternoon, you will have a short Kigali City Tour visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial and the local markets among others.

Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park – Boat Safari
After breakfast, you will meet your driver guide and embark on a journey to Akagera National Park – the only savannah park in Rwanda and the only place where seeing the Big Five and other game is possible.
You will arrive in the park in time for lunch which you will have after checking in, in the afternoon you will go for a boat safari on Lake Ihema. Enjoy a beautiful afternoon breeze and sighting of birds and wildlife. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Game Drive in Akagera National Park
Spend a full day in Akagera National Park on game drives: Akagera is the only savannah park in Rwanda and is home to several big and small mammals including the Big Five – lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, rhinos and elephants.
After breakfast, you will be picked up by your guide and head to the northern sector of the park for a game drive experience. This region has less vegetation cover thus offering excellent wildlife sightings, take on the lakeshore drive along the different lakes. Be on a lookout for various wildlife like zebras, giraffes, impalas, elephants, buffaloes, topis and the elusive leopards. On a lucky day, you will see a pride of lions before they go into hiding.

Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
After breakfast, depart Akagera National Park for Nyungwe Forest National Park via Kigali City. Along the way you will shave a stopover in Huye for lunch and a visit to the national museum to learn more about the history and traditions of the Rwanda people. Arrive in the park in evening, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk in Nyungwe Forest
Wake up early for breakfast and head to Nyungwe Forest for chimpanzee trekking, join other trekkers at the park headquarters for briefing about chimpanzee trekking and the right way to conduct yourself while in the presence of the chimpanzees.
Head into the forest looking for chimpanzees on a trek led by an armed guide, the trek takes approximately 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement of the chimpanzees. When you locate the chimpanzees, you are allowed to spend only one hour watching the chimpanzees play from one tree branch to another, feed and groom each other. Expect to see other primate species including black and white colobus monkeys, olive baboons and many other birds.
Return to the lodge after the chimpanzee trek or you can choose to do the Canopy Walk allowing you beautiful views of the forest canopy from above as you admire nature.

Day 6: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, depart for Volcanoes National Park. Enjoy amazing views of the rolling green gills and have stopovers for pictures, en-route lunch and stretching depending on your liking. Arrive in the late afternoon, check in at your lodge and spend the rest of the day at rest, have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Today is the climate of your Rwanda Tour, meet the endangered mountain gorillas in the forests of Volcanoes National Park.
Wake up early for breakfast, meet your guide and head to the park headquarters in Kinigi for briefing about gorilla trekking. A senior ranger guide will take you through rules and regulations to follow in the presence of the gorillas, in groups of 8 people you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek. Head into the forests looking for the gorilla family on a trek which takes about 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night.
Upon locate the gorilla family, you will be amazed by their huge size and characters similar to human beings. You will spend one hour watching them go on with their life in the forest, watch them groom each other, feed and play and take amazing pictures and videos.
Return to the lodge for lunch and spend the rest of the day at rest.

Day 8: Visit the Gorilla Guardians Village & Transfer to Lake Kivu
Have a leisurely breakfast, then head to the Gorilla Guardians Village where you will learn more about Rwanda Culture and traditions, interact with the community elders, visit the medicine man, get involved in knitting, learn how to use a bow and arrow and enjoy song and flocks.
After this amazing cultural experience, you will transfer to the beautiful Lake Kivu for a down time unwinding.

Day 9: Lake Kivu Experiences
Spend the rest of the day enjoying several experiences exploring the beautiful Lake Kivu, activities to engage in include a visit to the hot springs, take a boat trip to an island, kayaking on Lake Kivu and relax at the lakeside in the evening as you sip on your favorite drink.

Day 10: Departure
On this last day of your safari you will enjoy a leisure breakfast, check out of your lodge and transfer to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight back home.
