Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National Park, Boat Cruise and Evening Game Drive
Your Rwanda Safari begins with pick up from Kigali International Airport upon arrival, your guide will brief you about the safari and embark on a journey to Akagera National Park – the only savannah park in Rwanda.
Arrive in time for lunch, check in at your lodge and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon return to the park for a boat ride on Lake Ihema, as you sail on the lake you will see several animals including oribis, baboons, giraffes, cape elands among others on the shores of the lake and several water birds such as crested crane, cormorants among others. Later return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Full Day Game Drive in Akagera National Park & Transfer to Kigali
After an early breakfast, you will embark on a morning game drive exploring the different regions of Akagera National Park, visit different lakes and enjoy sighting of several animals including buffaloes, elephants, lions, leopard, zebras, giraffes and several bird species including Egyptian goose and fish eagle among others.
Head to your lodge for lunch, later check out and embark on a journey back to Kigali with en-route game drive in Akagera. Arrive in Kigali in the evening, check in at your hotel, and check in for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Kigali City Tour & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Enjoy breakfast and head out for a short Kigali City Tour visiting the Memorial Site in Kigali City, the Kimironko Market, the Presidential Palace Museum and the Nyamata Church. In these sites you will listen to the horrendous narratives of how people were cruelly put to death and learn about the history of the country from the colonial periods through to the present time. You will enjoy lunch and transfer to Ruhengeri town just outside the Volcanoes National Park, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking & Transfer to Kigali
Wake up early for breakfast, join your driver-guide and head to the park headquarters in Kinigi for briefing about gorilla trekking, what to expect and the right way to way to behave while in the presence of the gorillas. In groups of 8 people, you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek, then head into the misty forest of Volcanoes National Park looking for mountain gorillas, the trek takes approximately 30 minutes to 6 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night.
Once you locate the gorillas you will be allowed to spend only one hour watching them go on with their life in the forest, mothers feeding their babies, playing and grooming. Gorilla trekking is a strenuous exercise requiring you to trek through thick jungle on steep terrain that is uneven, wet and often muddy.
Trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet your guide and head to your lodge for lunch. Later transfer to Kigali where you will be dropped off either at your hotel or at Kigali International Airport for your flight back home.
