This 5 Days Rwanda Safari takes you an adventurous journey to the rainforests of Nyungwe Forest National Park for chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk experience and Akagera National Park, the only savannah park in Rwanda for game viewing experience.

Detailed Itinerary of 5 Days Rwanda Safari
Day 1: Arrival, City Tour and Journey to Akagera National Park
Our driver guide will pick you up from the airport upon arrival or from your hotel after breakfast and brief you about the tour before heading for a Kigali City Tour visiting some of the key and historical places in Kigali including the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre and vibrant markets.
After lunch, you will embark on a journey to Akagera National Park arriving in the afternoon and enjoy chances for sunset game drive.

Day 2: Morning game drive and Afternoon boat safari
Wake up early for breakfast and set out for a sunset game drive through different tracks of the park giving you more chances of seeing the shy animals before hiding in thickets. Animals to lookout for include zebras, buffaloes, giraffes, impalas, elands among others.
Return to the lodge for hot lunch before boat safari on Lake Ihema, where you are able to have a closer visibility of hippos, crocodiles and many water birds like the kingfishers, papyrus, genolek, caruthers’ cist cola, and the famous African fish eagles, cormorants among others. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
After breakfast, check out of your lodge and embark on a journey to Nyungwe Forest National Park with en-route game drive enjoying your last sighting of several animals and catching up with the amazing landscape.
Have a stop for lunch and continue to Nyungwe Forest National Park. The journey offers you a chance to witness the very beautiful scenic landscape of rolling hills portraying a true land of a thousand hills. Seeing many agricultural plantations, most notably the tea plantations.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking
Wake up early, enjoy breakfast and head to the park headquarters for briefing about chimpanzee trekking and the right way to behave while in the presence of these playful primates. You will also be grouped into 8 people and head into Nyungwe Forest led by a ranger for chimpanzee trekking.
The trek can be little tough but very exciting when you meet our close cousins. Equipped with rain gears, enough drinking water and some energy giving snacks making the exercise smooth. On meeting the chimpanzees you will have a complete hour with them observing as they go on with their life in the forest, as they feed, groom each other and play.
Return your lodge for lunch and an evening of rest reminiscing about the day’s adventure.

Day 5: Canopy Walk and return to Kigali
After breakfast, head to Uwinka Vistor Center for the adventures Nyungwe Forest Canopy Walk above the emerald Nyungwe Forest. The canopy lies 50 m above the Nyungwe Forest and over 200m walk offering you a fresh air and magical sightings of the forest, different primate species seen during the walk such as black and white colobus monkeys among others.
After this amazing experience, depart for Kigali arriving in the late afternoon. You will be dropped off either at your hotel or at the airport for your flight back home.
