Detailed Itinerary of 6 Days Explore Rwanda Safari
Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National Park
After breakfast at your hotel in Kigali, you will be picked up by our representative and embark on a journey to Akagera National Park – the only wildlife park in Rwanda. Along the way you will enjoy the changing landscapes and sight of the local people as they go on with their life.
Arrive in the park in time for lunch after checking in at your lodge. In the afternoon you will go for a game drive looking for elephants, gazelles, antelopes, buffaloes, giraffes, impalas, leopards, zebras, bush babies and other wildlife species. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Game drive and boat ride on Lake Ihema
Wake up early for a cup of coffee in the early morning thereafter set out for a game drive to see the early risers as well as other animals which you could have missed out on the game drive the ay before. Other animals you will see include Masai Giraffe, leopards, antelopes, zebras, buffaloes, African elephants and many more.
Return to your lodge for relaxation and lunch. In the evening you will enjoy a boat cruise on the beautiful Lake Ihema to see crocodiles and hippos plus various bird species such as the Kingfishers, the rare shoebill stork and fish eagles among others. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Soon after breakfast, you will drive to the rainforests of Nyungwe Forest National Park through Kigali. On the way to the park you will visit a number of tourist attractions like the traditional Rwanda King’s Palace found in Nyanza as well as the Cultural Museum found in Butare. Afterwards drive through the hilly countryside past the tea fields scattered with tiny wooden houses up to Nyungwe.
Check in at your lodge, check in, have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking and transfer to Kibuye
Following breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for chimpanzee tracking experience in the forest to look for our closest relatives. The forest ranger will guide you through the various forest trails, the take approximately 3 to 5 hours after which you will return to your lodge for lunch, then in the afternoon you will drive to Kibuye Town found on Lake Kivu’s shores.

Day 5: Gisenyi and Ruhengeri
After breakfast, you will depart from Kibuye Town and drive to Ruhengeri through Gisenyi. The drive will unveil to you the beautiful countryside especially the Kayoye as well as the Gisoyu Tea growing regions. Arrive in Ruhengeri and then dine and have overnight.

Day 6: Mountain Gorilla Trek in Volcanoes National Park
Wake up early for breakfast, drive to the park headquarters in Kinigi arriving by 08:00 am for a briefing as well as being distributed to gorilla groups. Then head into the forest and begin tracking mountain gorillas, the trek takes approximately two to six hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night.
Once you locate these gentle giants, you will stay only for one hour observing them as they feed, groom, play and take amazing pictures. Then trek back to the park headquarters, meet your guide and embark on a journey back to Kigali with lunch along the way. You will be dropped off at either your hotel in Kigali or at the airport for your flight back home or to your next destination.
